Florence Institute of Design International (FIDI)
The Florence Institute of Design International (FIDI) is a design school located in Florence, Italy (established in 2008) and is privately owned. It also educates in graphic design, interior design, furniture design, architecture and digital illustration. Students will be able to study at diploma level, bachelor's, or master's, or take part in a short summer course/semester abroad. The whole curriculum is taught in English, and the student body consists of Europeans and others around the world.
The curriculum is practical, studio-centred, and relies on the design culture of Florence. Graphic design students include topics such as logos, layout, branding, digital photography, video and interactive media and illustration. The students of interior design get to study space planning, furniture design and interior design. The master programmes are one-year master programmes, which are available to students with an existing design degree.
The three-year BA (Hons) degrees of the FIDI application of Interior Design and Graphic Design are accredited by Goldsmiths, University of London, and thus graduates can be awarded Goldsmiths qualifications. The institute has accreditation via the Region of Tuscany (Accreditation n. OF0301), is certified in IOS 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, and is recognised by the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education. FIDI does not provide accommodation facilities on campus, and thus students organise their accommodation. To facilitate the start of classes, an orientation is offered a week before the start of classes.
