About us
The Northeastern University (NU) is a private research university located in Boston. Founded in 1898, the University consists of nine colleges and has over 22,000 students (including 12,000 international students). There are two sessions of admissions during the fall and winter months, and admissions tend to be moderately selective, with an acceptance rate of 18%. At Northeastern University, there are 318 undergraduate majors (110 single and 208 combined), 259 master's, doctorate, and certificate programs offered on campus, online, and in hybrid formats.
As members of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), the Northeastern Huskies compete in NCAA Division I in 18 varsity sports. Currently, there are 282,143 active alumni spread across 179 countries that are part of Northeastern University Alumni Relations. Among the most notable alumni of Northeastern University are: George D. Behrakis - inventor of Tylenol, Shawn Fanning - founder of Napster, Nikesh Arora - founder of SoftBank, Biz Stone - co-founder of Twitter, and many others.
