Introduction
The Campus France application trip has flunked even the brightest, most talented students in 15 + years of taking students to France, not due to their unworthiness, but because no one told them how things are done in a straightforward manner.
We have helped 23,000+ students in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, in Dubai, and at Gateway Educonnect. France is one of the most favourable - and least known - of destinations. This guide is subdivided into stages in the application journey of the whole Campus France application process that applies in 2026, based on what we find works (and does not) every day. What Is the Campus France Application, and Why Does It Matter?
The Campus France application is a required process for Indian students wishing to attend French universities. It is operated on the platform of "Études en France" and links three things:
- Your university applications, taking up to seven programmes at a time.
- Checking of your document, verified prior to any offer being finalised.
- Your eligibility for a visa, as no French student visa is issued without it.
I still recall a student, Ritika, who thought that she was not supposed to go through this process since her university had already sent her an offer. She had not really touched her application to Campus France and was left with almost 6 weeks to scramble. We had to reinstate her, but this was a lesson to me that this step is often underestimated.
Registration at Campus France Process: Step-by-Step.
Campus France application has been made completely paperless. This is what happens with most Indian applicants.
Step 1: Create Your Account
Go to the Études en France portal and, first, create a Campus France account by providing a valid email address and a telephone number. You are now going to be provided with a special Campus France label ID - hide it, as you will need it in all other stages that would follow in your Campus France application.
Step 2: Fill in Campus France Account and Description.
After registration, your Campus France login allows you to enter your personal dashboard. Here, you fill in:
- Full school records since class 10.
- Score of TOEFL, DELF/TCF, or IELTS (Language achievement Test).
- A statement of purpose written up and a CV.
Whenever a student returns with his Campus France login, he can follow up on his application, answer questions posed by the university and stay on top of deadlines; hence, it is best to use this dashboard as a live command centre, not a form to complete once.
Step 3: Upload Campus France Documents Required
Most applications get stuck here. Campus France application usually consist of:
- Scanned degree certificates and academic transcripts, which have to be in PDF format.
- Passport-size and copy photographs of a passport according to portal requirements.
- Scorecards in language tests, where needed by the portal.
- Application form and CV based on the programme you choose.
- Evidence of financial resources (at least €615 a month to demonstrate living expenses).

We have experienced cases where it can take weeks to graduate an application due to the inability to scan a name on a document, and in another, a scan of a particular document has a blurred name. Re-verifying each and every document of the Campus France application requested before uploading comes in handy later. Before the official list of documents needed by families is reached, our counsellors conduct a checklist which matches the official Campus France list with the files which have been handed in.
Step 4: Pay the Processing Fee
Your Campus France application will not make a decision on your application until you pay the fee. This is now being charged at between ₹15,500 and ₹18,500 and is paid via the official portal by Indian students. It cannot be refunded in virtually all situations; hence, make sure you are certain of your course selections first before making a payment.
Step 5: Attend the Interview
Once your documents have been verified, you will be offered a Campus France centre where you will encounter an academic interview and a mandatory registration procedure as part of Campus France application.
Step 6: Take Your Attestation and Visa Application.
Upon passing through, you get an EEF Attestation. This document, alternatively referred to as your green light, is the one that gives you the go-ahead in your application for a French student visa.

Campus France Interview Questions: Expectations.
The interview is not a show; it is a reality check of your desire and willingness. These are the most popular Campus France application or interview questions based on our students' sessions:
- How will you fund your school charges and expenses of living in France?
- Why have you decided to go to France as opposed to other places of study?
- What is your post graduation?
- What was your reason for choosing such a university and course?
- What are the links of this programme to your academic background?
When one of our students, Aryan, was interviewed, he told us that he was nervous as he walked in; however, the mock interview Gateway Educonnect held with him the week prior to the actual interview made it look as though the actual interview was something he had experienced before, having known perfectly how he was going to describe his choice of course. It is this type of preparation that makes us carry out video counselling sessions prior to each actual Campus France application or interview question session with our students.
Practical suggestions for the interview:
- Always dress up and be at least half an hour early.
- Bring original copies of all the documents that you submitted to Campus France application.
- Be specific in answers. Be specific about course modules, faculty or areas of research.
- Never speak empty words about how there are many better opportunities in other countries.

French public universities have low tuition fees of approximately 170 per year for a Licence and 243 per year for a Master's, plus a mandatory CVEC fee of approximately 103. This cost-effectiveness is one of the key motives why Indian families still prefer France, regardless of the paperwork that needs to be done.
Common Mistakes We See in Every Application Cycle
And having been dealing with the Campus France application over the years with hundreds of families, one can always count on the following patterns:
- Beginning it later in life, when there is no time to correct documents.
- Turning in a general statement of purpose that is not representative of the course selected.
- Overlooking portal messages, which slows down the response to university inquiries.
- Going into the interview without planning how to answer questions about course fit.
- Being lax about how rigid document formatting standards are.
One of my parents informed me that we had believed that the hardest thing was to get admission, and nobody told us that Campus France application was an independent mountain to climb. That mood is a usual one of the kind, and with the same difference that there is a gap that Gateway Educonnect is meant to bridge.
